What is Forensic Meteorology?
Forensic Meteorology is the detailed study of past weather records, data and Meteorological information and the appliance of the data and our findings to various litigations and weather related claims that occurred sometime in the past. It is the determination of past weather conditions for a specific location and time, accomplished by analyzing and interpreting past weather records and reports.
Most litigation cases involve accidents that occur far away from weather reporting stations. In these instances, We obtain the weather records from several different places surrounding the incident location to determine the prevailing weather and/or ground conditions for a specific time and location. By getting these weather records from different locations for several days before the incident occurred, we are able to establish what the pre-existing weather and ground conditions were and how that may have had an affect on what happened in your case.

Did you know that most weather records that list daily snowfall on a particular date actually end their 24-hour reports at different times of the day? We have surprised the opposing counsel in front of the jury numerous times by telling them they're interpretation of the weather records was wrong, that the snow actually fell the day before the accident and was recorded for the 24-hour period ending at 7:00 AM the next morning. Had they retained a weather expert, they would have know exactly what the weather conditions were really like. Don't take the chance, call the weather experts to do the work for you !!!
